As the saying goes, “Good things come to those who wait,” and there is not a more accurate statement to describe the labor of love that went into our Villa Viento project. This home’s transformation has been in the works for 15 years, and throughout that time, we’ve helped the homeowner complete things like updated window treatments and other little odds and ins here and there. One day, our client called and said that he would like to redo everything and that their home would still serve as a vacation rental but that they would be spending a lot more time here in the near future. Together, we brought this dated abode to a fully updated oasis with the flexibility for renting and all the little touches of home.
Designing for Functionality and Comfort
We want everyone to think of their home as a haven from the outside world and something they want to keep and cherish for years to come. Part of that endurance is maintained with flexible interiors that support and develop with your lifestyle and preferences. Like the seasons, we as human beings are not static; we’re forever changing and forever growing, and the same principles can be applied to your home. As this family’s priorities changed over time for their use of the house, it was time to update and create a space that supports the way they want to live in the future. With adult children and grandchildren on the way these homeowners were ready to create a space that will take them into the next chapter of their family’s life.
If you’ve been in your home for an extended amount of time, or you’ve invested in a rental opportunity you may have gotten to the point where the things that once suited your style very well just don’t anymore. Over time not only do our tastes change but we find new interest and desire different amenities in our homes. So many of our clients have tried little updates along the way but then come to us looking for a cohesive look that will really support island style living in all the aspects.
We completely redesigned this kitchen with family gatherings in mind. Our client is a fantastic chef and really loves to cook for the family when they’re all together and he has the extra time while away from the hustle and bustle of city life. We added lots of storage to accommodate all the groceries required for a big family gathering. We also upgraded the appliances and included the homeowners favorite built in coffee maker as well as dual dishwashers and wine storage. The increased kitchen space, additional island seating and elegant finishes took this barefoot luxury escape to the next level.
Balancing Personalization with Renting Potential
Incorporating the homeowner’s unique style while considering the needs of potential renters required creating adaptable interiors infused with personality. From versatile seating arrangements in the great room and bedrooms to clever storage solutions in the kitchen and butler’s pantry nook, every detail welcomes guests with warmth and functionality.
With ample space for the homeowner and their family to unwind and savor island views from any vantage point, visitors are equally embraced with essential amenities for a memorable getaway. From the inviting great room to the enticing outdoor areas, every space encourages relaxation and invites guests to kick off their shoes and stay a while.
In the primary bathroom we added a soaker tub and upgraded all the finishes. This is now a spa like retreat for getting ready for the day or unwinding in the evening–all with a beautiful island view.
